Surfing the Coldstream Arts Fringe Festival

David Bromley’s best-known work typically draws on imagery from Boy’s Own annuals and old magazines exploring the themes of childhood innocence, lost and found. Print workshop Spacecraft will use Zaishu’s hoop pine veneer sheets to test and experiment new ideas. Chance compositions are discovered in the layers creating a chaotic visual historical record of the studios creative output. Although essentially a bi-product of the creative process they manage to capture the energy of the studio in full flight.

Crossing cultures between Australia and Germany, Urban Bi Product looks at the random art created from ‘test’ screen prints by Berlin poster artists Bon Goût. Additional bi products were created using the left over wood by Berlin designer Rainer Spehl to make book shelves.

Inspired by the documentary ‘Invisible Children’ the child soldiers of Northern Uganda, this creative event brought local artists together to support the research, education and development work of World Visions ‘Youth Psychosocial Care Project’. The theme of the artwork reflected the motivation and resilience of these children and African culture. Curated by Fred Ting. Artists: Andy Redman, Jesper Waldernsten, Bea Hellman, Matthew Horsnell, Hanna Werning, Lisa Green, Ulla Doyen.

Bendigo Youth Arts Project

Commonwealth Games Cultural Festival, Artspace Bendigo VIC

The Youth Arts Network has a long history of providing opportunities for high-risk young people to engage in art across a variety of mediums. As part of the Commonwealth Games festival local Bendigo artists participated in Zaishu’s painting workshops learning stencil techniques to create designs and motifs that explore their cultural identity and their sense of ‘place’.
